Donald, M.P., left last evening for Wellington. - V Messrs. J. Brewis, of and Wl H. Whitten, of Pittsburg, U.S.A., are at the Grand Hotel. Dr.'.F. W. Lumsden, of Waipukurau.* is at the Central Hotel. Sir James Gunson left last evening for Wellington on Railway Board business. Mr. W. G. Wohlmann, Commissioner of Police, returned to Wellington last evening. Dr. J. Keith Davidson, of Christchurch, has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. Sir James Parr, M.L.C., left for Wellington last evening. He is to be sworn in ;is Leader of the Legislative Council. Mr. G. Stewart, manager of the publicity branch of the Railway Department, returned to Wellington'last evening. The Rev. A. G. Dawson, curate of All Saints' Church, Ponsonby, has been appointed vicar of Thames in place of the Rev. R. B. Davison, who has been appointed to Devonport. Mr. C. G. G. Berry, ■ of Wellington, senior draughtsman of the Railway Department, has retired after v 35 years' service. He entered the service as apprentice fitter at Greymouth, and was successively promoted to posts at Addington and Wellington. Captain S. E. G. Ponder, Royal Artillery, Hongkong, is at the Grand Hotel. After spending a fortnight in New Zealand he will proceed to San Francisco.
