WOMAN BANKRUPT.
RESTAURANT AT WHANGAREI. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGARET, this day. Mary E. Read (Mr. Pickmere), a, bankrupt restaurant proprietress-, of Whangurei, met her creditors before the Official Assignee, Mr. A. L. Tresidder, at the Whangarei Courthouse yesterday. Unsecured creditors were ehown at £211 17/5, secured creditors £1268,10/, less estimated value of securities, £1535, and surplus to contra account, £260 10/! The total assets were set out as £231 10/. Bankrupt said her partner' died in October/1930, when she was in hospital, and when she came out the husiness had been neglected. 111.-health had affected her and the business had suffered. On September 19 the landlord of the premises closed them for non-payment of rent. She then filed in order to protect her unsecured creditors. There was ho quorum ami a motion could not be carried. It was su™-ested that the Assignee should negotiate" with the landlord and the second Ihe Assignee said bankrupt scem 0 ed 0 to have done her best and he did" not think there;would be any opposition to her discharge. The meeting was adjourned.
