EARLY RETIREMENTS.
THIRTY ENGINE-DRIVERS.
ON REDUCED PENSIONS.
UNION EXECUTIVE'S COMMENT.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
HAMILTON, this day.
The statement that 50 enginednvers with between 30 and 35 years' service would be retired on superannuation before the end of this month was made to-day by Mr. A. J. Denz, an executive members of the Firemen, Enginedrivers and Cleaners' Association. •
He said that had those men completed 35 years they would have retired on the normal pensions of about £3 10/, but now they would receive amounts varying from £2 to £2 10/. Considerable hardship was certain. He knew of one man with six children at primary schools. Mr. Denz added that his association had been called together to take some action.
