The formation of branches of the New Zealand Territorial Association is proceeding rapidly and public. meetings have been called -by the Mayors of Hamilton, Waihi and . Tauranga, while Paeroa, Thames, Te Aroha. Whakatane, Rotorua and Matamata will call meetings in the near future. Various towns in the Waikato and in the North Auckland district will also call meetings at an early date. "I am gratified with the success of the movement," said Colonel J. E. Duigan, commanding Northern Command, this morning. '"The public are taking a greater interest in the social and recreational side of soldiering than ever before and the support accorded from all quarters has been surprising. It is much greater than anticipated and has already done much to stimulate recruiting." A meeting'of the executive will be held on October 1, when a chairman will be appointed.
