(Sent in by Dorothy Jones, 82, Richardson Road, Mount Albert.) Margaret, aged five, was drawing with pen and ink. She drew a eat without a tail. "Where is the tail?" somebody asked. She looked puzzled for a moment, then replied: "Why, it's still in the ink bottle."
The farmer was very worried because a Government official had told him that all his stock of every description must be branded. "I suppose it's all right," muttered the farmer, but I see myself having a beastly time with those bees." 'Tve got a riddle to ask you," said an old salt one day. "If a herring and a half cost three halfpence, how much would six cost?" r VoiC i-!i af £j ten minutes ' thinking) • 1 Bill, did you say herrings ? ' Yes, I said herrings." "Well blow me; here I've been reckoning bloaters all the time." n
