TAXAFTJNA BOATING CLUB.
ELEVENTH ANNUAL MEETING.
The eleventh annual meeting of the Takapuna Boating Oub was held last ereaws in the clubhouse. Bayswater, Mr. W. A. Johnrton, commodore, presiding. Apologies were received from Messrs. A. Harris, M-P-, O. *-. Moller and P. G. Easson. The annual report, submitted &y jax. Harold Carr, stated that only the Z class boat-; had been raced last season, except at ?he club regatta. when all classes compete*! The competition in this class had been keen, ten starters being the usual field. The clnb's success in tie Cornwell Cup was mentioned, the contest being one of the most «iv~e«;B*iil *ver held, crews competing from Whan-Jarifto Dunedin. The club's representative in the Lipton Cup race, Mane, was also successful in -winning this trophy. ?he annual contest between the club and the Manukau Xacht Club was a-ain -won by the Takapuna crevc. The slipw'av had not returned much net revenue owing to extra expense due to breakages The ground was now in good order, and the slippy would shortly be completed and be a souk* of revenue. Thanks were expressed to the donors of priMS* and to the ladies' committee for their help. The balance-sheet, submitted by Mr. B-- >■ White, showed that after allowing for ue-n-eciation on the clubhouse and an erpeis§"itSl"l fSO 11/4 on the slipway, the drtit Knee of last year had been turned to a . small credit. The clubhouse was in good order and all debts paid off itMoving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, Mr. Johnston said it very satisfactory, and -was only made possible <bv the good team work of the. officers and committee. He advocated paying leto attention to the social side and more to the sailing of the club boats, and suggested making a "drive" for new members. The following officers were elected.— Vice-patrons. J. Maekay hv the crews of the 32ft 6in class, as a token of the great interest he had shown in the boj-B of tins class. The recipient suitably acknowledged the gift, and stated taat it had been a work of love. A cup was donated by the club, to Je named the Fortzer Cap, in token of the manv years of good work done by Mr. Frwl FortWr. who was retiring from the committee after serving since the commencement ol thf club. The thanks of the meeting Wre also accorded Messrs. J. J. Maekay and C Hoverd for their many years -of hard work, also to the ladies' committee, the retiring commodore. Mr. Johnston, and the Press.
