MOUNT EDEN'S KEFIEF GRANTS.
The Mayor of Mount Eden, Mr. T. pSlcNab, to-day received advice from the of Labour tliat.it is not possible to increase ' the allocation of money , for Relief -work, in the Mount Eden district/ JThe decreased allowance, of .£O. per Ccentj ■ isaid the Mayor, created a very difficult situation, and he was conferring with 'the borough. officials before deciding ■what men wquld have to be put off. * A census was being taken of the men with ia view to preference being given to bonafide residents of the district.
