A married woman, Dorothy Cheadle, aged 26, appeared voluntarily at the Police Court to-day, when she was charged with stealing, on August 14, a handbag containing gloves and £4 12A in i inoney, and, 1 on : May 13,-with the theft of a, woman's bag containing two diamond rings, fur, a cheque for. £16 and £8 in money, of a total-value of ,£l5O, from the dwelling ofVictoria' J.Effia Warbrick. • J-' " Accused' pleaded guilty, and elected summary treatment. . . ■ .: !w. Detective Sergeant Kelly said accused, on August 14, while at the Pluuket clinic, took a handbag belonging tp another woman. The bag was -subsequently discovered, but not the- moiiey. However, Mrs. Cheadle overlooked a. £1 note in the bag. Only on August 24 last Mrs. Cheadle was before the Court when she was-convicted and discharged "Oil three charges of false pretences, "an'd .on a charge of theft she was admitted to probation. May 13 last, said Mr. : Kelly,accused went to Nurse Warbrick's home'; and took a bag from a desk. On. the following day she cashed a cheque for £6 8/2 which had been in the bag, destroyed another cheque, and sold two rings to a dealer, giving. a -fictitious name and address.' One Of the rings, valued at £10, was sold for £I.' Othqr* property which the bag had. contained' had been destroyed.
