IMPORTED STOCK FOODS.
PROPOSED DUMPING DUTY.
WELLINGTON, Wednesday. Several interesting recommendations were made by Selcct Committees reporting to the House oii petitions to-night. The Agricultural Committee, which referred to the Government for favourable consideration, a petition asking for legislation to remove Customs duties on stock foods and wheat, suggested that where the rate of exchange on imported stock foods coming into the country free of duty was not equitably passed on to the primary producer,'the Government should impose a dumping duty equal to the rate of exchange, and pay the same into the Consolidated Fund.
