TAR.ANAKI SCHOLARSHIP. FINDING OF FULL COURT. VERDICT AGAINST SENATE. WELLINGTON, this daj. In the Appeal Court to-day in the Syme v. University of New Zealand, judgment was given for plaintiff. The Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers, held that the word "worthy"' meant worthy from the point of view of character and not seholastically. James Wincote Syme. student, of litiwera, asked for an order that the University should award him a larunnki scholarship which he claimed to have fairly won. For the defence it was claimed that although Syme passed with i credit the Senate had power to esclude candidates who were not deemed worthy lor the award.
