HOUSE DESTROYED.

POINT CHEVALIER BLAZE.

FAMILY'S HURRIED ESCAPE

A four-roomed houee at 2, Wainui Avenue, Point Chevalier, owned by Mrs. F. A, Brown, of Ellerslie, and occupied by Mr. T. Moffatt, was practically destroyed by lire early this morning.

Mr. and Mrs. Moffatt were asleep in a front room, and their four children and a visitor, Mr. Bowles, were in a room at the back of the house. Mr. Bowles awoke to find the room filled with smoke. He roused the family, and they had barely time to escape in their night attire.

The call was answered by the Point Chevalier brigade, the alarm being given by a passing motorist. One front room was saved, but was damaged by water.
