MOSLEMS MASSACRED.
WELTER OF BLOODSHED. Very serious happenings are taking place in the Caucasus Mountains, South Russia, about which little or no news reaches the outside world. From a most reliable source on the Persian border "The Daily Mail" has just received information that last month, because of the grave unrest among Moslems in Caucasia, the Soviet Government dispatched 40,000 troops to Ghanjeh, Ghare Bagh, and Nakhichevan to restore order.
Before this was done, Glianjeh was bombarded and many of the citizens, including women and girls, were massacred.
Pitched battles have also been fought at Kumough between the Moslem population, who are claiming independence, and Soviet troops. The Moscow forces suffered 300 casualties.
To prevent Moslem refugees from reaching Persia the Soviets have strung out military posts.along the frontier. A leading priest, Haji Seifullah, fleeing from the Caucasus with his family of 19 children, was caught by these frontier guards and shot out of hand with all his family.
Bolshevik Moslem troops protested against the massacres, and as a result Moscow lias decided to withdraw them from the Caucasus.
Seven hundred Moslem women have been arrested and transported to European Russia. '
