PROSPEROUS PORT.
TRADE AT NEW PLYMOUTH. RECORD IN DAIRY PRODUCE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Tuesday. In spite of the trade- depression the statistics for the port of New Plymouth for the past 'six months reveal increased overseae , t? : ade, both inward and outward, and : :& : record output of dairy ij'-oduce. .'..''■' ' ' Compared with the January-June period in 1030, imports from overseas have increased by 152 tons and exports by 1342 tons. 'The shipments of butter at 170,324 boxes showed a decrease ot 035 boxes, but cheese exports increased by 5409 crates to 119,732 crates, equivalent to 4.7 per cent. Further evidence of progress in the dairy industry is that basic slag -importations increased from 18,012 tons to 22,086 tons, equivalent to over 22 per cent. _ There was a large increase in tne numbor and size of overseas vessels visiting the port;"which included nine ships of over 10,000 tons; and three of over 12,000 tons. The total exports overseas, 24,213 tons', was easily a record for the port.
