STOLE A BICYCLE.
TO VISIT WIFE IN HOSPITAL. COURT EXTENDS LENIENCY., (By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. Edward Ilecuey, aged 30, to-day pleaded guilty to the.theft of a. cycle. SenioivSergeant Sweeney stated that tho cycle was 'stolen fr6m'/..Frankton station by defendant) who hied off the identiueation marks and substituted some parts. .Accused said some time ago someone stole his cycle. He was tempted to steal the cycle in question owing to_ the fact that ho had no inonoy, while his wife was in hospital and his child was eick. As'he lived-a long distance from the hospital he had no means of visiting his wife except by walking. " Remarking that punishment for theft was usually imprisonment, his Worship said he would' treat accused leniently and' order 12 months' probation.
