A GRADUATED LEVY.

I have read that the unemployment levy may be increased. This is all very well provided that it is done on a sliding scale. To my mind every worker, both male and female, from the boys and girfe just starting work, should be taxed. I suggest a tax of one penny per week from all boys and girls in their first year, the same to be deducted weekly from the pay envelope, then twopence weekly for second-year workers, and so on until it reachee 1/6 weekly for those earning £7 and over. This would be a very fair way of taxing and would burden no one. All would then be doing their bit towards relieving the dreadful tragedy that has overcome us. " F. DELL.
