In the fourth round of the men's singles, G. P. Hughes (Britain) beat Nigel Sharpe, 6—2, C—4, C—3; Van Ryn (U.S.A.) beat Boussus (France), 6—2, I—6, 6—2, 6—l. Players who qualified in the fifth round include Perry (Britain) and Wood and Shields (U.S.A.)
