THE FLOWER GARDEN. Consider the state of the soil before working it. If soil is wet, place a board to tread on. Thoroughly prepare the soil before planting trees and shrubs. Do not leave the ordering of Roses, etc., till too late. Get all the Dahlias lifted and stored. Clean the Gladioli bulbs that are in store. Be careful that all bulbs are true to label. Primroses and Polyanthus can be planted. Cuttings of shrubs and Roses can be: planted. Prepare new Rose beds. Planting can be done at once. Firm planting is necessary for trees, whrubs and Roses. Keep Anemones and Ranunculi clear of weeds. Cut down Chrysanthemum plants and clear weeds from among the suckers. THE VEGETABLE GARDEN. Rows of small seedlings should be hand weeded. Onions must be kept free of weeds. Prepare ground for Peas and Potatoes. Place Potato sets in boxes to sprout. Lift and reform the herb bed. Earth up early planted Potatoes as they show through the soil. Plant Gooseberries and Currants. Order your fruit trees at once. Prune Peach, Nectarines and Plums. Apples and Pear's can be pruned during the next month. Collect all prunings and burn them. Spray after pruning and clear away all weeds from under the trees. Outside vines should be pruned.
