WHANGAREI NOTES.
Mrs. James Harrison was a recent visitor to Whangarei and was a guest at the Settlers' Hotel. Mrs. Leslie Crane, Auckland, is visiting Whabgarei as the guest of Mrs. A. B. Charters. Mrs. F. Reynolds and Mrs. J.: Dobsbn have returned from a motor trip to Te Aroha. Mrs. Wilson has returned to her hpme in Auckland after visiting her mother, Mrs. Griffin. Miss M. Hemus, of Epsom, is in Whangarei on a visit to her aunt, Mrs. A. W. B. Griffiths. Mrs. F. S. Briggs is spending a holiday in Auckland. A successful dance was held by the College Hockey Club on Thursday evening last in the Parochial Hall. The hall had been brightly decorated for the occasion, the stage bearing a _ large banner on which was displayed in the college colours—black and red —the name of the team,, and the word "Welcome." Mrs. F. Fowler, of Russell, provided an extra. Miss M. Wigley, president, acted as hostess. A dainty supper was provided by Mrs. McLeod and the club members, Misses J. Clark, L. Garton, L. Ventry-Smith, B. Whitehouse, L. Smith, J. Curtis, D. Burgess, D. Wilson, P. Holmes, K. Allan, K. Brown, A. Storey, V. Courtney and E. Windress. A competition was won by Miss M. Baigent and Mr. E.
