TE AWAMUTU TRACKS.

TE HOIA AND RED LION PLEASE. (By Telegraph.—Special to " Star.") TE AWAMUTU, this day. The fast work this morning on the Te Awamutu track was carried out on the courtic proper, four trestles out. The going was very heavy on account of rain yesterday, and consequently very little work was done, tmly horses haying engagements at the Taumarunui meeting (at Ellerslie) working. Te Hoia and Red Lion were sent over one mile, doing the first half in 525, and the mile in-1.49%. Both worked well, especially Red Lion, who is a much improved horse since being taken over by A. Cook. Both should show to advantage on Saturday. Spalpiko, who will probably be sent to Trentham, moved very easily over one mile and three-quarters at his usual pace, averaging 16s to the furlong. He completed his task in 3.36 4-5. Trishna was eent over one mile, the first four furlongs taking 59 4-ss. He was picked up by Shamgar ,at the threefurlong post, to complete the distance in 1.54. Among those doing useful work on the inside were Karapoti, Pegaway," Motere, Aspian, Limeen and Pukerimu. The lastnamed is a newcomer in Cook's stable. Motere is to be schooled over battens next week.
