QUEEN STREET FRUIT TRADE.
A -NEW ENTERPRISE. An interesting development of recent months in Auckland business circles has been the increasing number of fruit shops coming under the control of Europeans. New chops have been started and old-established businesses have been taken over from Chinese and Asiatic owners. One of the oldest fruit businesses in Queen Street has now reverted to European control. Established about 40 years ago at 01, Queen Street, it has an interesting history. For many years it as conducted by Messrs. Messenger Bros., who sold to Mr. G. Staccy. Eight years ago the business attracted Chinese interests, and the business passed into their hands, and about four years later it was taken over by A' l Ghee's.
