THEFT FROM MOTOR CAR.
MECHANIC SENT TO GAOL. The theft of a suit of clothes valued at £2 was admitted by a mechanic. John Henry Gill, aged 31, at the Poller. Court this morning. Detective-Sergeant Kelly said that Gill stole the suit from a, parked motor car on May 23 and sold it to a man for 10/. The purchaser immediately resold the suit to another man for £1 5/. Gill recently came before the court, when he was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence on another charge. Mr. Noble, who represented Gill, pointed out that the offence had been committed prior to his last appearance in court. Gill was able to make restitution if given . another chance. Mr. Kelly: Why, he's living on charitable aid! Mr. Hunt: Well, he will live at the expense of the public for a while now. I'm not going to have men robbing motor cars like this. One month's imprisonment. '
