He induced the. New. Zealander to accept a partnership for £300. Upon reaching Sydney the New Zealander handed over £200 in New Zealand notes to be changed into gold. The stranger disappeared altogether with the money. Detectives later arrested a man at Newtown. At the same time they seized 136 New Zealand £1 notes.
