MONEY HANDED OVER.
New Zealander Duped by Affable Stranger on Voyage. AN ARREST IN SYDNEY. (Received 11 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. A New Zealander who recently .travelled from'.Wellington, to, Sydney met an affable stranger,aboard the vessel, who conversed'about the. big profits of his theatrical .venture at Singapore. He induced the. New. Zealander to accept a partnership for £300. Upon reaching Sydney the New Zealander handed over £200 in New Zealand notes to be changed into gold. The stranger disappeared altogether with the money. Detectives later arrested a man at Newtown. At the same time they seized 136 New Zealand £1 notes.
