WHARF REGULATIONS

PETITION OF SENATE.

(Received 10.30 a.m.) CANBERRA, this day.

Regarding the regulations for waterside work which are intended to give preference to members of the Waterside Workers' Federation and which have been three times rejected by the Senate, the Attorney-General, Mr. Frank Brennan, states that he has interviewed the Governor-General, Sir Isaac Isaacs. He informed his Excellency of the petition of the Upper House asking that his Excellency should disallow the regulations. Although the regulations were in course of preparation, said Mr. Brennan, he would not ask his Excellency to examine them until he had had an opportunity of considering the petition and the opinion of the constitutional advisers on the petition.
