Coal Oil (New Zealand), Limited, *eports as follows for the week ending May 16:—Omata No. 1 bore: When the cement phi" had been drilled out and the we.l drilled with a fish-tail bit in sandy mudstone to 2600 ft the drill-stem was pulled to clianse bite. While the new bit was being lowered two breaks were discovered in the casing. These have been located and are being repaired preparatory to cementing to support the casing and prevent further breaks.

The following is the latest report from the TaraiKiki Oilfields Xo. 2 well (Waitangi):-— Drilled 400 feet in shale. Prepacin sto run 16in caMiiß and to cement to that depth.
