OTAHUHU SAILING CLUB.
ANNUAL PRIZE NIGHT
The thirty-sixth annual prize night of the Otahuhu Sailing Club was held last evening in the Kiugsford Hall, Otahuhu, which was iilled with members and their lady friends. , Mr. C. Castles, commodore, welcomed the visitors, and thanked the members for their continued support. The president, Mr. H. T. Clements, the Mayor of Otahuhu, before presenting the prizes, paid a tribute to the good work of the hon. secretary, .Mr. O. Moller, the treasurer, Mr. W. K. Parkinson, and the starter and judge, Mr. H. Fearnley, who, Mr. Clements said, with the flag officers, did most of the hard work. The prize list is as follows : — First race: Marie 1, Rival 2. Second: Omaki 1, Caprice 2. Third: Kakamai 1, Rival 2. Fourth: Marie 1, Caprice 2. Fifth: Caprice 1, Marie 2. Sixth: Ben Machree 1, Tui 2. Seventh: Caprice 1, Marie 2. Eighth : Spindrift 1, Ben Machree 2. Ninth: Ben Machree 1, Phyllis H. 2. Tenth : Ventura 1, Spindrift 2. The principal prize was a massive silver cup, presented by the club for highest points scored during the season, won by Mr. Morgan's Caprice, 45 points, Mr. Purchas' Marie being runner-up with 41 points, and Mr. C. Bull's Ben Machree third, 35 points. The champion flag was also won by Caprice. Mr. E. Moller, who has filled the position of hon. secretary for the past three years, was presented with a gold mounted fountain pen, suitably inscribed. Amongst those present were Mr. W. J. Parkinson, who was one of Teddy's crew •when she won the trans-Tasman race, and Mr. Ceflric Constance, who was aboard the Oimara, both in the race to Sydney and on the trip down to Melbourne. They are both members of the Otahuhu Club, and they took an active part in the season's races in Ventura. Both have many souvenirs of their adventurous trip, which Includes honorary membership cards of the Royal Sydney and Royal Prince Alfred Clubs of Sydney. Mr. Constance also has membership cards of the Royal Victorian and Royal St. Kilda Yacht Clubs of Melbourne. Mr. W. A. Wilkinson tendered congratulations on behalf of city clubs, and said that the Otahuhu Club should be proud of the fact that two of Its members had taken part in the first race across to Sydney. After supper dancing was resumed until midnight.
