The new headquarters of the Girl Guides in Buckingham Palace Road, facing on the high wall which secludes the domestic part of the palace, was formally opened by the Queen, Princess Mary, as president, receiving her Royal mother. There was ft ceremony last year at which a nuiiilier of New Zealand delegates were present when Princess Mary took the chief part in the proceedings, and Lady Baden-Powell herself was there to erplain everything, particularly the offices for the overseas training and equipment services. Her Majesty took most interest in the show of toys made by disabled Girl Guides, of which there are actually nearly ten thousand, physically debarred from taking a normal part in: industrial life. These girls are trained by experts, and some are in a fair way to do enough work for sale to bring in a living income.
