SCRUB FIRES.

DRY SPELL IN CHRISTCHURCH. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. For this time of the year Christchurch has experienced a good spell of sunny weather and mild temperatures. This week nor'-west winds and bright sunshine have made the days like summer. Due to the dry spell, suburban areas had the unusual experience in May of gorse and scrub fires. An outbreak at New Brighton threatened several houses, and a grass fire on Clifton Hill, Sumner, and gave residents an anxious time.
