Mrs. Johnson, who has sold her home, which was formerly the old deanery, St. Stephen's Avenue, Earnell, has gone to reside at Courtville, where she has taken a flat.

Mr. and Mrs. Percy Crisp, who recently arrived in London, have taken a flat in Kensington. Their eldest eon has gone to Edinburgh to continue his medical studies.

Mrs. W. McGrucr, Victoria Avenue, Auckland, and the Misses Rita and Lorna McGruer are staying at Monavale, and are motoring in the Cambridge and Te Aro districts.

At the Canterbury Women's Club the members of the executive of the club gave an informal little party in honour of the president, Mrs. J. A. Flesher, who is leaving to spend the winter months in Brisbane.

Mrs. E. Walcott, formerly of Auckland, who has been spending a holiday here for the past five months, will return to her home, Long Beach, California, by the Monowai, on June 2. She has been the guest of Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Cucksey.

Miss Gladys Seifert, of Palmerston North, and Miss Hilda J6nes, of Christchurch, have left London with a group of students for a tour of Spain. They will be away about three weeks. Afterwards they intend spending a week or two walking in Brittany.

Mr. L. G. Atkinson, of the Public Works Department, Hamilton, who has been on a visit to the Old Country/is returning to New Zealand next month on the Rangitiki. He will bring a bride, Miss Winifred Goddard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Goddard, of Fetcham, Surrey.

Miss Stella Murray has arrived back in London, writes our correspondent, after her tour for recitals in New Zealand, and a round of "welcome home" parties awaited her. She was "at home" in her little mews flat the day after her arrival, and she seemed to be beating up cakes with one hand and shaking hands with the other. GladHo have been out to New Zealand, but glad to be Home once more. Now she is trying- to get rid of a coat of sunburn and an- extra two stone, and eager to be at work again.

All interesting happening took place during Easter week at Kirriemuir— Barrie's Thrums. A niece of the playwright, Miss Mary Barrie, has written and produced her first play, "Queen Margaret of Scotland." It was presented with great success by Girl Guides and Brownies in the Lyell Memorial Hall there. "I have previously written fairy playettes for Brownies, but this is my first full-length play," said Miss Barrie. "Please do not run away with the idea that I was about to embark on a career as a playwright," she added. "Sir James Barrie's genius may have had its effect on us, for my sister and I are very fond oi play-writing. The National Reserve Nursing Division of the St. John Ambulance arc engaged in getting together funds for a tent which will be taken to the various sports grounds and functions when the brigade is on duty, as they are often handicapped through lack of proper equipment. To this end they are holding a social and dance on Monday at the Ambulance station.

Mrs. McKenzie Wood, wife of Major Murdoch McKenzie Wood, Liberal M.P. for Central Aberdeenshire, is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Moss Davis, who celebrated their diamond wedding at Monte Carlo on March 2'J, states our London correspondent. Both Mi\ and Mrs. McKenzie Wood were present at Buckie after having attended the wedding celebrations, in order to attend a function in connection with the Liberal Association there, in Major McKenzie Wood's constituency. Mrs. McKenzie Wood in her speech said that two thousand miles was certainly a long way to travel to open a cake and candy sale, but she considered the journey worth while.
