DESERTED FROM SHIP.
SWEDISH SEAMAN IN COUBT.
The services of an interpreter were needed in the Police Court this morning when Gunnar Martinnson, a Swedish seaman, aged 28, was charged with deserting from the motor ship Innarem. Martinnson pleaded guilty. < ; < , , Detective-Sergeant Kelly said tna accused's ship had sailed for Los Angeles, but that lie could be taken away on any other ship. _ ■ Mr. A. S. Brown, representing one o the shipping companies, said that the company had put up £1700 until.ilw tinnson was deported. He had spoken o the captain of another hip, who Han agreed to take the man. He hal no wage s due to him. ■ Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., remanded tinnson until to-morrow, stating that i possible in the meantime he should, placed aboard a ship.
