HARBOUR BRIDGE.
EMPOWERING LEGISLATION. AUCKLAND M.P.'S ACTIVE. REQUEST FOR FACILITIES. (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Auckland members of Parliament have arranged to wait on the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, with a reqi' ;t that he afford facilities this session for the passing of a bill empowering the construction of the Auckland Harbour Bridge by private enterprise. It is understood that the Prime Minister will accede to the representations if it is shown that all the Auckland members are unanimous concerning the project. In this connection a conference is being held this afternoon. At the conference of Auckland members of Parliament the members were not unanimous that the 'bill should be rushed through without the fullest scrutiny of the proposals it contained, although thev were all favourable to the bridge project. The result of the deliberations was a decision that a deputation of three members should request the Prime Minister to allow the bill to be introduced and printed so that a complete examination could be made of all its provisions, and that opinions could be consolidated as to whether the measure should be passed this session.
