CHARACTER READING.
(By Sylvia Brose, 10, Pencarrow Avenue, Mount Eden, age 15.) My favourite hobby is studying the characters and personalities of the people with whom I come in contact. I do not seem to have progressed very far in this art, however, for I never seem to judge them correctly, and have often found on further acquaintance that my first estimates were just as wrong as it was possible for them to be. However, perseverance is tlie thing. Some day I may acquire that "keen insight" into people's characters, and on that very day, Peter Pan, I shall write and tell you, for it will be a day of great celebration for inc. But the very mistakes I make, render this hobby more fascinating to me, and I follow that excellent maxim, "If at first you don't succeed, try, try, again," so it should at least be having a very good eflept on my character. Very often the personalities I weave for myself are just as interesting as those really drawn true to life, and give me just as much pleasure, which, after all> is one of tlie main reasons why you should take up hobbies.
