in § ' ■■■■■■■■■■■, The "Hawk" Glider On View At M. & C.'s THROUGH the courtesy of the owner and designer, Mr. H. G. Pointon, and his associates, Messrs. G. Brown and H. Kernot, the Auckland-made " Hawk " Glider will be on exhibition in our Men's Department on the First Floor for a few days. Gliding is a popular sport in other parts of the world, and sustained flights of many hours have been made by expert pilots. The " Hawk" is the first Glider to make a successful test in Auckland, Mr. Pointon having made several flights at Mangere during the Easter week-end. The machine resembles a Puss Moth in appearance and has an impressive wing-spread of 36 feet 10 inches, with a length of 20 feet. Mr. Pointon is to be congratulated upon his enterprise in designing, building and' flying the beautifully constructed 44 Hawk," which will, no doubt, be the forerunner of many others as enthusiasm for » the sport grows in the Dominion. Inspection is welcomed any day at any hour. A suggestion for Friday— Tea with the boys in the Tudor Room and ample time for them to look <*•> over every part of this super Glider afterwards.
