WANGANUI GOSSIP.
PROMISING JUMPERS. THE WARDEN AND AUCTIONEER. (By .Telegraph.— Special to "Star.") WANGANUI, Tuesday. The Warden was not seen at his best at the Feilding meeting, due to having a heel cut about at the start of the first "ay's event. The injury was not serious, and he is to be schooled over hurdles with a view to competing at the Egmont meeting next month. The Verderer gelding has shown that he is a natural jumper, and with the pace he possesses, The Warden is likely to make a na,me for himself as a hurdler. Paratoo lias done a good deal of racing during the season,, but appears none the worse for it. He has been given a let up since the Feilding meeting, but will probably be a runner at the" meetings next month. H. Dulieu was in Wanganui the other 'norning, and schooled Kowhatu over the big fences, and Auctioneer over the hurdles. Kowhatu cleared six fences in excellent style, and the Quarantine gelding promises to win a hack crosscountry race or two during the coming season. He is a very fine jumper, and looks in great heart. Auctioneer jumped the hurdles in good style, showing no signs of soreness. As the tracks will be on the easy side from now on the Gashag gelding should train on all right, in which case he is likely to win some stake money over the hurdles. Just .An Idea is the only horse N. Gardner has in work just now. The Chief Ruler gelding was ' given a let |>P after the Feilding meeting, but will taken to Trentham for the Hawke's 'say Club's meeting, at which he is ''"gaged in the Autumn Handicap, of •-even furlongs.
