WASHINGTON'S LAND.
General Washington was a land owner and one of the largest ;in the colonies when he died. It is understood his farm on the James River, Virginia, covered 8000 acres, and was reported to be worth £100,000. '; Although lie did not farm .intensively, his property paid him a net return of 2 per cent. One property, which he obtained in payment of debt, he had- valued in 1789 by "an impartial gentleman," which was the description of an appraiser. . The impartial gentleman valued the property at £800. .• "
