NORTHCOTE MAYORALTY.
REQUISITION TO MR. A. E. GREENSLADE. TO STAND FOR RE-ELECTION. The Mayor of Northcote, Mr. A. E. Greenslade. is to stand for re-election for a further term of office. This decision was made last evening as the outcome of a deputation which presorted him with a largely-signed requisition from all parts of the borough, expressing appreciation of tho efficient management of local affairs by the Mayor and council for the past four years, and emphasising the opinion that under present conditions it was advisable that no change should occur in the leadership of the borough.
Messrs. W. M. Jacks, J. A. Adams, R. H. Daniels, John Broady, J. T. Aspden. A. Pacer, C. H. Johnston, and S. C. Arblaster spoke in support of the request, and assured Mr. Greenslade that it was the general wish of the people of Northcote that he should continue in office. Mr; Greenslade also complied with a further request that he should stand for re-election as the Northcote member of the Waitemata Power Board, of which he has been a member r;ince its formation. Those present formed themselves into the nucleus of a committee to further the candidature of Mr. Greenslade for the office of Mayor of Northcote, member of the Waitemata Power Board, and member of the Auckland Harbour Board, of which he is the sitting member in each case.
