"CHEER UP WEEK."
NOVELTIES ARRANGED. SALUTE BY AEROPLANES. Novelties of all kinds have been arranged for "Cheer Up Week- .cekbiatine the ninetieth anniversary of Queen Street, which will commence on I'Xidaj with a grand parade. The week promises to be one of amusement and gaietj. Entries are pouring in tor the grand decorative procession. A start was made last evening oil the wiring of Queen Street, which will be lit up with coloured lights during the week. Over 100 men were on the job, ami they still have a great deal to do before Friday. One of the outstanding novelties arranged for the week of celebration is the saluting of Queen Street, on its ninetieth birthday, by a group of air pilots. Planes will fly over the city in mass formation, making an attractive and thrilling display. The St. John Ambulance will be in attendance in the streets, and in addition will provide a rest room for ladies in His Majesty's Arcade. Community singing will be held in the Town Hall from 12.30 to 1.30 on the Wednesday, and music will be dispensed in the streets daily by costume concert parties. The Auckland Artillery Band, the Pipe Band, the Ponsonby Boys' Band and others have offered their services. An additional attraction will be the masked singer, a well-known lady who will sing in various arcades during the week.
