STATE PROHIBITION. (Received 12 Noon.) NEW YORK, April 13. At Springfield (Illinois), the State Governor, Mr. L. L. Emmerson, to-day recorded his veto on the repeal of the State Prohibition Enforcement Act.

TENNIS IN ENGLAND. PLAYER'S NEW METHODS. LONDON, April 13. Mr. A. Wallis Myers, in describing the final Davis Cup trial match between Austin and Perry, says he thinks Perry is England's greatest lawn tennis star. This former world champion at pir.gpong has found a way to exploit the miniature game's strokes on the tennis court, and he promises to revolutionise lawn tennis.
Perry discards defensive methods and hits the rising ball so early that his drives have the time-saving virtue of half volleys.
