AKARANA CLUB.
Despite wintry conditions which prevailed at Penrose rifle range on Saturday the spirits of many of the club's enthusiasts were not dampened. Owing to high winds it was not possible to put up the long range targets, and the semi-final pf the championship was shot over the ranges of 500 and 600 yards. Silver spoons were won by E. J. C. Reston, K. Davies and J. Graveson. The final of the championship will be fired over the ranges of SOO and 900 yards on Saturday. Details of the shooting are as follow: — A Section.—E. J. C. Reston, 49 at 500 yds, 45 at 600 yds, total 94; J. R. DraYfin, 48, 44—92; D. Calder, 43, 47—90; A. H. Dixon, 47, 41—88; W. Colquhoun, 43, 43—SO; F. Wakefield, 39, 40—79. B Section.—A. G. Smith, 47, 47—94; K. Davies, 48, 46—94; A. Walker, 44, 46— 90; R. Wakefield, 43, 40—83; T. Bevan, 39, 41—80; A. M. Richardson, 46, 33—79; J. Graveson, 44, 38—82; T. Holmes, 42, 42— 74. The grand aggregate of the three leading men in the club championship are as follow: E. J. C. Reston, 848; J. R. Draffln, I 841; D. Calder, 839.
