MINISTERS FAREWELLED.
OTAHUHU CURATE HONOURED. There was a large gathering qf members of the congregation and friends in the Holy Trinity Church Hall, Otahuhu, last evening to bid farewell to the Rev. F. C. Truman, curate of the- parish, who leaves New Zealand for England on Friday next. Mr. Truman is to take up duty in Leeds, Yorkshire. The Rev. J. M. Beauford, headmaster of King's School, Remuera, presided, and during the evening he presented Mr. Truman with a wallet from the congregation and friends, and a gift from the Scouts and Rovers of the church and district. Reference was made by the chairman to the work of the late Rev. C. B. W. Seton, with whom Mr. Truman had been associated in the parish work. A warm tribute was paid to the work accomplished by Mr. Truman in the Scout and Rover movements. On behalf of the congregation the chairman wished him a safe voyage, and a happy and successful time in England. The Rev. H. H. Bedford, who has,been acting-vicar of the church for the past seven months, was also the recipient of a token of the parishioners' appreciation of his splendid work in the district. A musical programme was enjoyed, and supper was provided by a committee of ladies.
PRESENTATION AT RICHMOND The Richmond Presbyterian Church recently took the opportunity, at a largely-attended social gathering, to bid farewell to their highly esteemed minister, the Rev. Angus Mac Donald, 0.8. E., who has resigned from the charge for health reasons. Eulogistic references were made to the excellent' work Mr. Mac Donald had done in his six and a half year's pastorate. On behalf of the congregation the Rev. Frazer Barton presented him with a suitably inscribed wallet. Mrs. MacDonald was the recipient of a beautiful jardiniere from the ladies' guild.
PAPATOETOE FUNCTION. The Rev. A. W. Silvester was farewelled at a crowded gathering in the Papatoetoe Methodist Church last evening. Mr. H. E. Fricker, circuit steward, of Otahuhu, presided. During the evening presentations were made to Mr. Silvester of a wallet from the residents of Mangere.East, a wallet of notes from the rhembers of the Church in Papatoetoe, Otahuhu and East Tarnaki, a leather kit bag from the Young People's Club and the Bible classes, military brushes and leather case from the ladies' social league, and a book from the Rev. W. Gatnian, superintendent minister. Appreciation of the work of Mr. Silvester was expressed by Mr. Gatman, the Rev. T. H. Roseveare, Messrs. Fricker and E. H. Burton, circuit stewards, Mr. N. Haddock, Mr. -J. Sanderson, choirmaster, and Mre. Sanderson. Mr. Silvester was congratulated upon his ordination and upon his appointment in charge of the Church work in the Otorohanga district. A musical programme was given, those contributing items being Miss D. Hughson (pianoforte solo), Mre. J. Sanderson (song), and the Happy Pierrots (Misses K. and M. Bryant, I)e Luen, T. Heald, A. McKenzie, Mrs. Sanderson and Messrs. J. and W. Sanderson, L. Kendall, H. Elder and A. McKenzie).
