ACCIDENTAL DEATH.
WHANGARATA FATALITY., CASE OF R. H. RIDDOLX.S. EVIDENCE AT INQUEST; (From Our Own Correspondent.) i fi TUAEAU, Monday. The inquest concerning the, death of Mr. Robert Henry Riddolls, who was killed as the result of the accidental discharge of a shot gun at. Whangarata yesterday, was held by the district coroqer, Mr. C. K. Lawrie, to-day, In evidence, Alan Stuart Harrison, clerk, of Auckland, said he was walking about one chain in front of deceased, when he heard a shot fired. Hd thought this was directed at a rabbit, but the shot was followed by a second one. He ran down to the railway line and found deceased lying on his right side groaning, but unable to speak. Alongside of him was his single-barrelled shot gun.' Witness considered that the deceased had either. tripped in. blackberries or had slipped and fell.'-'. Corroborative evidence was given by John Brodie ,Simpson, another member of the shooting party/ The coroner returned a verdict of accidental death. He added that there was no evidence to indicate how~. the gun was discharged.
