TRACK GALLOPS.
THIS MORNING'S WORK. THE AVONDALE MEETING. "RIALS AT ELLERSLIE. The weather was fine for training wore at Ellerslie this morning. No. 1 grass track was open, and the going was excellent. Te Money covered five furlongs in 1.4 3-5, while Gold Money ran four furlongs in 50s. Corinax covered five furlongs in 1.12 i-5, and later ran six furlongs in 1.17 3-5, being assisted over the last half-mile by ■Raft'light. Corinax went well. Tenakoe was allowed to work over five furlongs, which he covered in 1.8 1-5. United and Howick ran five furlongs in 1.6. Eager Rosj was too good for Patutahi while covering six furlongs in 1.18 4-5. Manawhenua ran four furlongs in 51 2-.7>s. Royal Survey completed half a mile in 525. Hampton Park and Gold Day covered half a mile, the former being about a length in front at the finish. The first furlong was run in 12s, and the full distance in 48 3-ss. Prince Lu and Wiltshire were in front of Lucess- at the end of eix furlongs in 1.19. Land Measure (Campbell) led Semi-eircle (H. Dulieu) over four hurdles, which ;hey both negotiated safely. Silvermine worked on the tan, and Paitonu on the sand. Both look well.
AT AVONDA&E. •. LADY QUEX GOES FAST. Training operations at Avondale this morning were carried out under conditions, with all the tracks in good order". Most of the fast work took place on the course proper, where the trestles were again 50ft out. Alpina beat Jalldy Karo over three furlongs in 37 l-ss, while High Pitch covered the same distance in 39 3-ss. Marjoram easily beat -Vanessa at the conclusion of six furlongs in 1.19 1-5, with the first three furlongs taking 38 3-ss. Spring Abbey and Hannibal ran six furlongs in 1.20 3-5, with the former shaping the better. Volimond sprinted down the straight, and did it comfortably. ■ Simint was ahead of Roeeric at the end of half a mile in 535, and Trishna did a similar task in 52 3-os. Lady Quex was running on better than Honiton when the pair wound up naif a mile in 51 3-ss. Mau'riaena and Chopin went together over seven furlongs in 1.33 4-5, and at the post Chopin was moving strongly in front.
TAKININI NOTES. SOME SMART SPRINTS. The middle grass track was available for fast work at Takanini this moniinc. and was in good order. Wee Betty easily beat Taurua over five furlongs in 1.3 4-5. Gamp Prince was a length ahead of Envoy at the end of a similar distance in 1.4. - ■' ■_ • Fedora finished in front of Pateena over half a mile in 50s. Eaglet and Kodapen finished together after running four furlongs in 49 3-ss. •Magic Mint and Catch 'Em took 51 1-& for the same distance, and King Willonyx 52 2-ss.
TE RAPA COURSE. HIT THE DECK SPRINTS. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") HAMILTON", this day. Conditions were good for training at Te Rapa this, morning, the trestles being 60ft out from the rails on the course proper, and the going was fast for this period of the year. Hit the Deck ran five furlongs in 1.4. He left later for Avondale in companv with Star Comet. Paganelli ran five furlongs in 1.5. Barascope and Persham ran the last three of four furlongs in 37 l-ss. Mervette and Flying Prince were timed to run six furlongs in 1.20. ! Tradesman moved nicjely while Covering fi«j furlongs in 1.4. ' / Hollyholm and Glena Bay ran five furlongs in 1.7. Leasehold was well - ahead of Satirical at the finish of five furlongs in 1.5. From a moving start Homelight ran five'furlongs in 1.7. Monetize, Pompeius, Lupin Abbey and Bernera acquitted themselves well hi schooling over a couple of hurdles.
