VIOLENT SEAMAN.
RESISTED ARRESTING CONSTABLE. HANDCUFFED AFTEE STRUGGLE. A seaman named John Murphy, aged 29, got himself into trouble in Bakei Street last night, and as a result appeared at the Police Court this morning, when he pleaded guilty to charges of using obscene language, resisting Constable Wilson while in the execution of his duty, and wilfully breaking a window Valued at 5/, Detective Serg^ rt .nt Kelly said Constable Wilson was summoned to! a house in Baker Street. Newton,- about 9 o'clock last night. He there found Murphy Using "heliotrope language" that could be heard by the neighbours. When the constable attempted to arrest Murphy, accused struck him on the mouth and nose. Murphy became violent, and after a the constable succeeded in handcuffing him and bringing him to the lock ; up. Accused had never been in trouble before. , Murphy, wlio h'ad nothing to say, was fined £5 on the obscene language charge, and convicted and discharged on the other two counts. Non-payment of the fine and damage will mean a sentence of It days.
