LOCAL ELECTIONS.

FIRST CANDIDAtE. AUCKLAND CITY COUNCIL. MR. J. A. C. ALLUM NOMINATED. The first nomination for a seat on the Auckland City Council is that of Mr. J. A. C. Alium, chairman of the Auckland Transport Board, who was formerly a member of the council. Mr. P. F. Notley, city returning officer, said that he received the nomination just before noon to-day. Nominations cjose oh April 22. There are 21 seats to be filled, and at the last election there Were 67 candidates. The supplementary city roll, which is now being published, contains 8067 names. On the main roll there, are 46,081 names. The total, 49,148, shows an increase of 1949 on the figures for 1929.

ONE TRUE HILL MAYORALTY. SUPPORT FOR MR. GOLDSTINE. A large and representative meeting of electors was held last evening in St. George's Hall, Ranfurly Rbad, when it was unanimously decided to support Mr I. J. Gdldsfcihe's candidature for the mayoralty. A commitee set tip and plans for the. campai£ii were discussed. The lrieeting also resolved to support the candidature of Mr, W. G. Mulholland fdr the bfllcts of councillor and meittber of the Transport Board, and steps are to be taken to ftirther his interests.
