Dynamite Exploded by Fire On Assuan Dam. SERIOUS CASUALTY LIST. (Received 2 p.m.) CAIRO, April 12. Several Europeans and many natives * were injured when a fire exploded dynamite on the Assuan Dam. causing damage estimated at many thousands of pounds. The British engineers in charge of the dam made frantic but vain efforts to prevent the flames from reaching the dynamite shed. Mr. Harrington, a mechanical engineer, was killed while heroically climbing a ladder placed against the burning building in the hope of preventing the disaster. The explosion blew the white-hot roof, of the shed in all directions.
