TURN OF THE TIDE.
Departures More Than Arrivals In America. MIGRANTS SENT HOME. WASHINGTON, April 12. The tide of immigration into the United States has turned for the first time in its history, so that more persons are now leaving the country than are entering. Under the immigration restrictions there are 10,000 fewer entrants annually than hitherto, while under a provision of the general immigration law the federal Government is paying the cost of deportation of all aliens who volunteer to return to their homeland. These total 200 a month, to which is added the regular'number of 1500 alien deportees each month, composing those who have entered the country illegally. The heaviest voluntary movement is now occurring in the south-west, where about 10,000 Mexicans are returning to Mexico each month, because of unemployment, at their own cost.
