PAPATOETOE FIRE BRIGADE.
The Papatoetoe FirW Brigade held its third annual reunion in the Renown Hall, Papatoetoe, on Saturday evening. Mr. W. J. Nicholson, chairman of the Papatoetoe Town Board, presided, and there was a. large atteudanee. Three-year certificates were presented to Superintendent G. L. Shortt, Foreman F. Knight, Secretary A. T. Macßeth, Fireman R. S. Brooke; and two-year bars to Deputy A. C. Gulland and Fireman A. W. Eustace. Superintendent Shortt was also presented with a silver cup and a gold medal as winner of the brigade's one-man championship. During the evening the toasts honoured included the "United Fire Brigades' Association and Accident Assurance Society" (proposed by Mr. J. B. Franklin, chairman of the fire committee), "The Brigade" (proposed by Mr. H. C. Ernest, president of the Papatoetoe Chamber of Commerce), and "The Town Board" (proposed by the superintendent) .A musical programme was given by Messrs. W. Purcell, J. MoMinn, T. Cooper, J. Calvert, L. BickertoD, 0. Rees, Holt and Weir.
