FOOTBALL CLUB'S FUNDS.
TREASURER SENT TO GAOL. ARRESTED IN CHRISTCHURCH. (From Our Own Correspondent.) MORRINSVILLE, Saturday. Sentence of two months' imprisonment was imposed on Alfred Gillespie, a young man who pleaded guilty in the Morrinsville Court to-day to two charges of failing to account for funds totalling £11 8/, "which he had received last year while acting as treasurer of the Terriers' Football Club. Accused said he had become hard up and had used the club's money, intending to replace it, but he had met with an accident, and had not been able to square his accounts. He admitted leaving the Morrinsville district and not disclosing the fact that he had misappropriated the funds of the club. He had been arrested in Christchurch on Wednesday. The Bench commented ou the loose way the club had conducted its affairs, no separate banking account having been kept, so that there was no check on the actions of the treasurer.
