ROTORUA FINANCE.

LOAN FOB ROADING.

HELP FROM DISTRICT FUND. (Froin, Our Own Corresrondent.) ROTORUA, Saturday. A special meeting of the Rotorua Borough Council was held on Saturday morning to pass formal resolutions in connection with the loan for roading purposes. It was decided to raise the sum of £4000 at 5} per cent, and provide security by a rate of .287 in the £. The Mayor explained that the original loan was for £f0,700, and the proposed £4000 was the first portion of that amount. Owing to the general depression and earthquake it had not been possible to raise the full £10,700. In the meantime, however, it had been possible to carry on the programme of works by temporary loans and help from the district fund. Owing to the exceptional dry weather more work had been accomplished than was anticipated.
