"ROYALS" CRUISING RACE.

A WIN FOR THELMA. MAWHITI WINS M CLASS. The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron held its final cruising race on Saturday, the destination being Muddy Bay, Waiheke passage, a well-sheltered bay in sou'-westerly weather. The boats were sent away in the order of their handicap*, the limit hunt, Janet, starting at 1.-15 p.m., followed liv Kotnku at lh 48m. Wairiki lb 62m, Windward lh 55m. Ladye Wilmii lh 58m. Wuitungl 2b Ini.yPrize 2b 3m. Nga Ton 2h dm, and Thelnia 2h 14m. The limit boats made good use of their start, but Prize, Thelnui and Waitangi gradually overhauled 'hem, tbn finish being very close. FINAL HARBOUR RACES. The Ponsonby Cruising Club, in addition to the Lipton Cup, held races for the , keel, 26-footers, V, S, T and Y classes, 1 and the Z class for the Hewson Memorial Cup on Saturday afternoon. The results were:— Keel Yachts.—The finish was: Queenle, 4h 23m 7s; Maybelle, 4h 35m 355. Result: Queen ie 1, Maybelle 2. II Class. —The finish -was: Starlight, 4h 20m 295: Storloch, 4h 31m 30s; Omatere, 4h 32m 50s ; Spray, 4h 34m 455; Why Not., 4h 42m 2s. Kesult: Starlight 1, Spray 2, Omatere 3. M Class. —Sailed in conjunction with and over the course of the Royal New Zealand Yati'h Squadron. The finish was: Mawhiti 4h 21m 325, Manene 4h 24m 12s. Result: Mawhiti 1, Manene 2. V Class. —Thi* finish was: Avro, 4h 6m 355; Rita, 4h 7m 28s; Romance, 4h 17m 50s. Result: Rita 1, Avro 2, Romance 3. . S Class. —The finish was: Ben Bolt, 4h l.'im 345; Sceptre. 4h 15m 465. The Manukau Yacht Club held their linal races on Saturday in a hard breeze from the south-west. The results were:— Yachts. —Drone 1, Janet 2, Daphne 3. Motor Yachts. —Kaiapol 1, Mermaid 2, Ramona 3. OTAHUHU SAILING CLUB. FINAL RACE. The Otahuhu Sailing Club held their final race of the season on Saturday, starting off the clubhouse and finishing at Buckland's Beach. Handicaps were given at the start. The finish was:—'Ventura (sm), 4h 57m, 1; Spindrift (7m), 5h sm, 2; Phyllis H. (10m), 5h 20m, 3; Caprice (scratch), 5h 25m, 4; Kakamai retired. PANMURE BOATING CLUB. ANNUAL PRIZE NIGHT. First in the field with their prize distribution, the Paniuurc Beating Club held a smoke concert in the clubhouse, Panmure, on Saturday evening, the commodore, Mr. A. D. Purchas, presiding over a good attendance, including several representatives from the city clubs. After extending a hearty welcome to the visitors, the chairman said that six races were held during the season, all being well contested. They were indebted to many good friends for donations to the prize-list and the club was m a sound position financially, thanks to ttte good work of Mr, S. Hamlin, honorary secretary and treasurer. ' Mr. Hamlin submitted a report of the season's activities and also gave a brief history of the club since its inception I'J years ago. The prizes were presented by Mr. W. A. Wilkinson, commodore Of the Tamabl Yacht Club, the principal winners being the V. Andrews Cup for highest points, Mr- C. Bull's Ben Macliree, 44 points. Mr, Bull also won the silver cup presented by Mr. O. H. Fenton. Mr. A. J. Tobin's Wajtia was runner-up with 40 points. Mr. R- K Fenton's Tui scored 23 points, Mr A. D. Purchas' Marie 21 points, Mr. A. Walker's Phyllis IL 20 points and Mr. J. R. Mor> gan's Caprice 18 points. The first race was won by Waltia, Tul second; second race, Ben Macliree 1, Waitia 2; third race, Caprice 1, Phyllis H. 2; fourth race, Marie 1, Waltia 2 ; fifth race, Ben Macliree 1, Merope 2; sixth race, Ben Macliree 1, Marie 2. In addition to each prize, trophies were donated by Messrs. J. Burns, Hutchinson Bros., Wilson and Rothery, J. W. Rawlln» son and R. Urquhart. The toast list included kindred clubs, proposed by the commodore; vice-presidents and donors of prizes, proposed by Mr. S. Hamlin; the ladies, proposed by Mr. Cameron, and the Panmure Club, proposed by Mr. W. A. Wilkinson. During the evening musical items were 1 rendered by Messrs. Sheldon Kindley, Harold Martin, H. Walker and P. C. AJlen. Mr. J. R. Parkinson, who sailed on Teddy , in the race to Sydney, gave a short account | of his experiences.
