HIGHWAYS BOARD SCHEME. (From Our Own-Correspondent.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Saturday. Settlers of the district are opposiii a proposal to make a deviation on tit main north road between Mount Mv<senger and Uruti, along the Uruti, Valley, on the grounds that it would b: of great detriment to the quality of farming land. They are supported hi this connection by the Clifton County Council. The Main Highways Board proposes.to make a deviation to avoid bends an;! bridges and the scheme entailed straightening the main road and cutting a. new channel for the Mimi Eiverto make th-. building of bridges unnecessary.
